How this estimate works

Are these rates verified for every state?

Each row states its source and verification status. Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu municipalities other than Chennai require a confirmed manual amount. West Bengal automatic rates are restricted to the reviewed September schedule because an October change needs final verification. Exemptions require employer confirmation.

Why does the deduction change in February or March?

Maharashtra and Karnataka collect ₹300 in February in the applicable top salary band. Madhya Pradesh adjusts the last month's deduction to its annual slab. Chennai uses half-year assessments, so its displayed monthly amount is a budgeting average.

Does Odisha still charge professional tax?

The Finance Department's 2026 repeal takes effect from 1 April 2026. This calculator uses nil, despite older salary slabs still appearing on the commercial-tax website. It does not calculate arrears from periods before the repeal.
