How this estimate works
Does headcount alone decide whether ESI applies?
No. Establishment type, applicable notification, existing coverage and employee wages matter. Ten employees is a common threshold, but this tool asks you to confirm establishment coverage before displaying a payable amount.
What happens when wages rise above the ceiling?
An insured employee who crosses the wage ceiling during a contribution period normally remains liable until that period ends. Select continued coverage for that case. Overtime is excluded from the eligibility wage and included in the contribution wage here.
Who pays at a low average daily wage?
An average daily wage up to ₹176 exempts the employee share; the employer share continues. Enter the actual statutory average daily wage, not an assumed division if your wage period differs. Each contribution is rounded up to a whole rupee.
