8.25% is an editable assumption, not a promised rate. Interest uses monthly balances, with a deposit earning from the next month and interest credited annually. No withdrawals, wage-ceiling changes, special pension elections or tax on excess-contribution interest are modelled. EDLI and administrative charges are not EPF savings.
How this estimate works
Why is the wage ceiling ₹25,000 instead of ₹15,000?
EPFO's September 2026 revision increased the statutory ceiling from 17 September. The full-month illustration here uses ₹25,000. September itself must be split before and after the change; EPFO's portal FAQ gives the transition examples.
Is EPS included in the projected balance?
No. The employer's EPS allocation is shown separately; it does not earn EPF interest in this projection. Only employee EPF, employer EPF and the opening EPF balance are compounded. Ordinary EPS contributions stop at age 58 in this model; special or deferred arrangements are outside its scope.
Is 8.25% a guaranteed future return?
No. It is an editable projection assumption. EPFO approved 8.25% for FY 2024–25; the CBT recommended the same for FY 2025–26. A recommendation is distinct from notification, and future rates can change. Interest here uses monthly balances and annual credit, before any tax on interest.
