Biometric attendance system for factories and plants

Indian factories are legally required to maintain a muster roll — a daily record of who was present and for how long. Most maintain it twice: once in a biometric machine nobody reads, and once on paper because the machine's software cannot produce anything an inspector or a contractor will accept.

Attendance software for a factory has a different job from office attendance software. The unit is the gate rather than the desk, the workforce includes contract labour who are not on your payroll, and the output must reconcile with a statutory muster roll and with contractor invoices. AionHRMS captures gate punches from your existing terminals — including break and overtime events as distinct records — assigns each punch to the correct shift, and computes salary from shift units actually worked. One per-person daily record, across every gate and every site.

Why gate attendance breaks ordinary software

An office has one entrance, salaried staff and predictable hours. A plant has several gates, a workforce that turns over weekly, and people paid by the shift rather than the month. Software written for offices assumes a stable employee list and one reader; both assumptions fail on day one at a plant.

  • Several terminals per site sharing one worker list and one template store
  • High turnover means enrolling and revoking must be routine, not a project
  • Workers moving between plants are enrolled once, not once per gate
  • Worn fingerprints are normal on a shop floor — RFID cards and face keep those workers in the register instead of on paper

From gate punch to wage sheet

The expensive dispute in Indian manufacturing is not with employees, it is with labour contractors invoicing for a headcount the plant believes did not turn up. A defensible per-person daily record settles that with data — provided the data is actually reachable.

  • Double-shift workers carry a separate salary for each shift
  • Late marks counted against a grace period you set, with penalties as a flat fine or a fraction of a shift
  • Overtime-in and overtime-out captured as their own events, not inferred from gaps
  • Salary advances recorded, tracked and settled against the next payment
  • Monthly payroll report across the whole workforce

Frequently asked questions

Does biometric attendance satisfy the muster roll requirement?
A muster roll is the daily attendance register that factories and establishments must maintain under Indian labour and wage legislation. Biometric attendance can be its source and is far harder to dispute than a signature sheet. You remain responsible for maintaining the register in the form your applicable statute requires — AionHRMS provides the underlying per-person daily record it is built from.
How do we handle workers whose fingerprints do not scan?
Issue an RFID card or enrol them on face recognition if the terminal supports it. Both are recorded as verifications like any other punch, with the method captured, so those workers stay in the register rather than being managed on paper.
Can it handle two shifts a day?
Yes. Each employee has their own duty times and can be configured for one or two shifts, with a separate salary against each. Punches are bucketed to the right shift automatically.
What happens during a power cut at the gate?
The terminal keeps verifying workers from its own memory and buffers punches. When power and connectivity return it pushes the backlog and the register fills in for the missed period.
